Opportunities for Funding

Finding grant opportunities can be a daunting task – where do you even start? The good news is there are a lot of resources available, and this guide will help you navigate through some of them. This section provides an overview of the types of funding resources available, tips on how to identify and access resources, and information on funders of community art initiatives.
There are several types of funding resources throughout the nation, state, and in your community including government grants, foundation funds, corporate sponsorships, and service organization grants. Some organizations provide grants on a national or state level while others provide to particular projects within specific communities.

FUNDING:
iMiTs Art seeks to provide commitment-makers with various funding opportunities for their work. Current funding opportunities are outlined below, and will be updated regularly.
LET CREATIVITY HAPPEN! EXPRESS GRANT (LCH)
LCH Express Grant is an opportunity designed for artists and creative individuals to take creative risk with funding up to $2,500.
ARTIST AMBASSADOR PROGRAM
This grant program has not been launched yet and is being researched by HAA Staff.
FESTIVALS
The Festival Grant Program provides support of up to $10,000 to fund arts festivals or art components of cultural festivals.
SUPPORT FOR ARTISTS AND CREATIVE INDIVIDUALS
The Support for Artists and Creative Individuals Grant provides funds up to $15,000 for individuals creating new work or completing work already in progress.
CITY’S INITIATIVE
City’s Initiative Grants provide one-time funding of up to $10,000 for new and unique opportunities that are not part of the applicant’s regular programming or annual schedule of events.
SUPPORT FOR ORGANIZATIONS I & II
THE STORYTELLERS PROGRAM
The Storytellers Program is an opportunity for storytellers to partner with community-based organizations to expand the conversation about arts and culture in Houston’s communities.
VISIT MY NEIGHBORHOOD
Visit My Neighborhood is an invitation-only pilot collaboration between Houston Arts Alliance and the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs to partner with community-based organizations to expand arts and cultural experiences for residents and visitors
Art @ TheBar
The Support for Organizations Grant Program supports arts and cultural activities through two different funding categories, Support for Organizations I and Support for Organizations II. Support for Organizations I provides operational funds for arts-focused organizations who pay professional artist fees. Support for Organizations II provides operational funds for arts-focused organizations that do not pay professional artist fees or non-arts organizations that operate a specific arts program.
